Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is home to a diverse group of kids located in a low income neighborhood with many students lacking basic essentials needed for school. Some children come from refugee camps, have never been in school before or are learning English. However, they come to school each day with a smile on their face and eager to learn.
Despite their struggles at home, they persevere and thrive.
I strive to make our classroom a place where they feel welcomed, loved, safe and important.
My Project
Kindergartners are only 5 years old and have such high academic and behavioral expectations for such a young age. I want to ensure that my students are learning while playing and having fun!
My kids will greatly benefit from engaging math and literacy games that will reinforce important foundational skills that they are learning in the classroom.
The literacy games I selected will help students practice letter recognition, rhyming, letter sounds, vocabulary and sight words. The math games I selected will help students practice number recognition, counting, addition, subtraction, patterns, shapes and measurement. I know these targeted learning games will build on my students' knowledge all while having fun!
