Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This project will benefit 18 third graders who are constantly on the go. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, I serve students who are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many of my students come from families that face socio-economic challenges as well as parents who speak a different language.

All of the students in my class are special and have unique talents.

My students always try their best no matter what obstacle is in their way. Whenever my students enter the classroom they know they are in a safe, caring, and loving place.

My Project

For many of my students, reading is difficult for them as English is not their first language. As their teacher, it is my mission is to make sure all my students develop a passion for reading. I also want them to feel like they are successful at reading and comprehending what they read.

With these games, my students will get to play fun and engaging games to help them get better at the standards they are expected to know by the end of third grade.

The games that I have chosen align directly with our new reading curriculum and build off of many of the concepts that are taught. For the students who have difficulties understanding English, I believe that these games will help them learn these concepts with more of a hands on approach than from just having me stand in front of them and present the information. I believe these games will help their love for reading flourish and improve many of their skills.
