This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My classroom is full of diverse third grade learners that are excited to learn about new things. This year we are learning to find ways to be advocates of our own learning. We are building a positive classroom environment where everyone recognizes their strengths and weaknesses and work together to reach their goals. We love reading and writing look forward to sharing our passion for learning with everyone around us.

This year we will be studying topics like the importance of education, learning through classic literature, building knowledge through research and being a positive voice in the world.

My Project

As an elementary teacher that has been teaching for seven years, I am always looking for opportunities to improve my craft. I follow Jen Jones and know that she will give me strategies that I can immediately bring back to the classroom and use. I look forward to getting stronger at teaching guided reading, using strategies to build vocabulary and pushing students to higher level of thinking.

Being in a leadership position at my school, I am also excited to teach other teachers in my building all of the strategies that I have learned from the guided reading guru Jen Jones.
