I have been teaching for 18 years, and I still love going to work every morning. That's because every day, I see how I'm making a difference. Since 1999, I've worked as a Gifted Specialist for my school system. My students are those that have high IQ’s. You may think that they are the “best of the best” however, giftedness comes with many challenges. Some of the students are socially awkward and not sure where to fit in. Some of my students make bad grades. Some of my students are of a lower economic status and some are on the autism spectrum. However, in my class these students work together and become a family. We are at times a dysfunctional family but we all love each other. Hopefully they will grow, learn and be their best possible self.
My problem-based/concept-based learning units provide strategies to help accelerate the learning for my gifted students. The Ron Clark Academy will provide me with new and creative techniques to enhance these strategies.
Attending this conference, at Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, will allow me to strengthen teaching strategies from master teachers.
I will have the opportunity to enhance my students' learning and share professional development with my fellow teachers.
My students have unique learning styles and are so eager to learn. This conference will help me feed their hunger for learning. Please help me attend this ultimate teacher training at the Ron Clark Academy this May!
