This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school's student population comes from three different primary schools so there is an influx of new students every year.
We are a high poverty and high mobility Title I school in a small town attached to a larger school district.
The school consists of entirely free or reduced-price lunch status students.
My Project
Being a high poverty, Title I, with 100% receiving free and reduced-price lunch school, our parents can barely afford one set of school supplies for home let alone another set for school. This is especially hard on families with multiple children. We need two sets of school supplies for each child so cross-contamination doesn't happen. Breakaway lanyards will be taken home to keep reusable face mask clean for use at school and at home.
Each student will get their own set of school supplies for school and another set for home so there will be no need to share.
These supplies can be sanitized at school for additional cleaning or replaced if needed. Before supplies are given out to students they are sanitized and will be placed in storage bins so as not to come into high touch surfaces.
