My students are currently learning from the safety of their homes and not in the school setting. They are all hands-on manipulative learners and need the one-on-one support of a teacher to learn academic skills.
Currently, my students are relying on their parents to do what I do every day.
From hands-on learning, independent learning, and learning that behaviors have consequences. My students are focused on learning the social and life skills right now that they can at home during this time.
We are learning through screens, lucky enough to all have iPads at home and able to see their teacher through meetings. I send out daily read alouds from themed books and interactive anchor charts that we add to throughout the week. Youtube videos of their teacher doing silly things in front of a camera to let them see me and enjoy doing the activity they are about to do. We are all learning in different and new ways now.
My Project
I will be using the puppet and books along with other books I have to do fun read-aloud videos with my students like I do inside the classroom. We will take our notes from the stories and add them to our anchor chart so we can refer back to the things we learned about.
My students need to keep learning as similar and routine as we did in school while they are at home.
Learning at home is a struggle and having a sense of routine with school is a big help. I am trying to keep our online learning as similar to school as I can through an IPAD.
I will use the Do-a-Dots to create projects that my students can see and try to copy and or create their own for their daily challenges and work that they are doing. The punch cards will be a way to keep track of who has completed challenges and when they fill their card, they get a reward!
The best thing about all of these materials is when we do finally make it back to the classroom we will get to use all the materials together and for even greater purposes!
