My amazing second grade students were asked to begin learning from home at the beginning of March. We got the news right after our students while we were on spring break which left me without a hug goodbye or sending anything home that I thought could help them with distance learning. As a district, we are teaching our students by videos and paper packets. We live in rural East Texas where only part of the students have Wi-Fi access.
I've been wanting to do distance learning bags for my 20 second grade students so that they can have essential materials for learning while at home. These bags will consist of activities (both indoor and outdoor), learning games, and essentials to learning like scissors, dry-erase boards, and pencils.
I know that learning from home has been a challenge, and these bags will not only brighten their day but give them items that can help with their success.
It's hard to be a teacher right now and feel as helpless as we do. We want to be there for our kids, and this is one way I can show that I am thinking about them and trying to help them in every single way possible. All items will truly help my students with their emotional and educational growth during this last month of school.
