Help me give my students access to online learning during this pandemic. I need this Macbook Air to be able to connect with my students to provide online learning for the remainder of the year.
For my high school students, most of them will be the first in their families to graduate and have the opportunity to continue their education at a higher level. Coming from neighborhoods of poverty, crime, and violence, they are heroes in my eyes. Growing up in Oakland isn't easy for them yet they show up to school every day, ready to learn and push themselves forward.
My classroom is a diverse mix of every cultural identity and learning style that makes Oakland the great place that I teach.
On a daily basis my students teach me just as much as I teach them. They are the force behind our school. They are the leaders, the mentors, the fighters, and the motivators.
My Project
This pandemic has the traditional world of education turned upside down. My students are now at home removed from the safety and comfort of their learning environments. It is only through the use of technology that I am able to connect with them. I am attempting to hold zoom conferences, individual check ins and online learning platforms all from my own home. However, slow technology is holding me back from doing the most that I can for my students.
This Macbook would be able to transform the way that I am interacting with my students and allow me to create more individualized learning opportunities for each of my students.
While this isn't something I ever thought I would have to do, I am now in a situation trying to teach new curriculum while at the same time counseling high school seniors about their next steps on their educational journeys.
I need to be able to do all of this on a device that allows me to download new applications, store increased memory, and perform at higher speeds. Please help to ensure that learning for my students is able to continue and allows me to truly interact with each of my students who deserve nothing but the best.
