My students have a thirst for knowledge. They come from many countries and most are a beginner English Language Learners. This doesn’t stop their curiosity for the natural world and how things work or where we get resources from.
Unfortunately, this year is unlike any other year we have experienced and most of my students are learning from home and attending school one to two days a week.
The families work hard to help their children with their remote education. In my classroom, in normal years, I try to give them as many hands-on and experiential learning opportunities as possible. unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been teaching remotely.
My students range in age from 4 years old to 11. Many come from economically disadvantaged homes and they struggle with oral and written language. When they have experiences that relate to the real world, it makes learning more relevant and meaningful for them. They are eager to get involved and learn as much as they can. Since we have to be socially distanced, the students aren’t all at school at the same time and are learning mostly from home.
My Project
Many of my students do not have a computer or an iPad to work on their schoolwork while at home. This iPad will help us reach all students with all needs. My students are eager to use technology and will allow children to explore learning while at home. Students will be able to build their science, literacy, math, and technological skills.
Having an iPad will make learning fun while personalizing their learning needs.
The students will be able to access online instruction. This will help build equity for all students to connect to our online instruction.
I hope you can help make a difference in our classroom!
