Our school is a rural, Title I school located in southeastern Oklahoma. Approximately 80% of our students are Native American. Over 80% of our students participate in the free or reduced-price lunch program.
My classes are comprised of students in grades 3rd through 8th.
My students are eager, enthusiastic learners. My students are inquisitive and take every opportunity to empower themselves in their quest for new learning opportunities.
My Project
This classroom project "Learning From History" will allow me to add much-needed historical fiction books which introduce individuals from diverse backgrounds.
These books will allow my students to increase comprehension and reading fluency while also showing them diverse cultures and individuals who have made a lasting impact throughout history.
My students will be able to enjoy a large selection of books that meet their reading needs including my struggling readers. Selected books will be available in my classroom for years to come which will ultimately affect many students in my class.
