Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is my second year in kindergarten! I love the different dynamics of a kindergarten class. These little learners are so sweet and eager! My students are English Language Learners. Many students in my class have never been in school prior to this year.

I try to make learning fun and memorable as kindergarten sets the tone for their first educational experiences in a school.

We learn through hands-on activities, games, and a lot of movement! My students love to learn in new ways and enjoy being a part of a small group where skills are broken down for them to be able to understand and master the skill.

My students come from very diverse backgrounds, and each has their own unique learning styles. We love to read and write when we're together. Sometimes I, as the teacher, need to think out of the box on how to approach new topics so that my students can understand the teaching point.

My Project

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on communities everywhere, disrupting routines, events, and now, schools. My students don't have the necessary devices to participate in such a program. My students' families do not have desktop computers, laptops, or iPads. If I had Chromebooks to give them to use at their home, they would be able to participate in our district's distance learning program and continue learning to become great readers, writers, and become excellent mathematicians.

I am so worried that my students will lose all the skills that they have gained in the six and a half months in kindergarten.
