Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students I am seeking funding for are elementary students with socio-emotional delays that impact their ability to socialize and learn in the regular classroom.
Our school is located in a low income inner city in beautiful Connecticut.
Like all young children, our students are full of hopes and dreams that we desire to continue to foster. Most importantly, it is my hope for our students to grow an inner desire to learn every day!
It is for this reason that we want to encourage the involvement of the family to carryover the academic motivation being worked on at school.
My Project
Help us bring learning with loved ones a reality for our students and their families with this PowerMyLearning Family Engagement Innovators Program. Research shows there is a strong correlation between family engagement and student success.
While all children enjoy learning with their parents and siblings, there is something quite special when a student is able to share his knowledge with his parents.
It helps solidify their knowledge, take responsibility for their learning and make new connections. It also gives parents an opportunity to see what their child is learning and praise their growth. This leads to greater academic outcomes in addition to increased self-efficacy, academic motivation, and productivity.
My goal is to help students become lifelong learners.
