Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from various backgrounds. Their socioeconomic status varies. My students are curious learners. Our school is a Title I school with limited resources for our very special population of students. My students have intellectual disabilities but that does not stop them from trying their best and learning as much as they can. They are capable of understanding their surroundings, and they constantly want to explore their world. They enjoy learning and work so hard every single day. They are inspiring.
My Project
My students are learning about spending and saving. They are learning that saving money can reap greater rewards in the long run, but sometimes its ok to buy items when money is earned.
Students learn best through hands-on instructional materials.
A PS4 can be an amazing instructional technology tool. The students can use the PS4 as a computer and project on the big screen. The can use it for educational apps, and an online financial literacy Stock Market Game. Most importantly, it can also be used as incentive for earning and saving reward dollars. Students will be able to earn reward dollars by doing homework, good behavior, extra home reading time and doing classwork. I am teaching financial literacy through earning and saving money. They students have the opportunity to shop in the classroom store for items such as "plushies" and video game reward time. We are requesting PS4 games, and some plushies to restock our student store with incentive items to encourage the students to earn reward dollars and save up for the items they want, or time on the PS4. This project will enable us to expand our instructional technology as well as offer a new addition to our classroom store options as incentive.
