This project is geared to help elementary students at a Title I campus in SunnySide, TX. These students are new to a school community, and they grow in their learning. The majority of these babies come from low income families and communities where they have a lot of needs to be met at school. Students are also still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and, more recently, Imelda, and have been coping with additional flooding in the area when rain falls.
Creating a wonderful classroom learning experience for these babies is crucial to their educational and social emotional growth.
Early childhood learning is a wonderful experience, and it is the most important experience in education. These babies and their families have made a commitment to further their education despite the personal and environmental challenges they face, and my commitment to them is to provide adequate resources for them to excel in learning.
Rewards! In what classroom full of three year olds do rewards not exist? My students love being rewarded for good work, and I also love rewarding them for improved behavior, and data growth. Snacks also serve as an energy booster when the day is a bit tough for them with learning new concepts. It sets the tone for them to get back focused, and thus increases the knowledge of the information at hand.
Like most kids in the school community, most of my students' nourishment comes from school, specifically our classroom.
The students look forward to having a midday or afternoon snack after learning all day, especially when they are uncertain of what is to eat or look forward to at home. Snacks are always a high priority in our classroom!
