My Students

Our students are why we are here! They come from many different backgrounds including linguistic, socioeconomic, and cultural differences enriching our building and my teaching. However, with these differences comes the challenge in reaching all of my learners to help accelerate their learning.

I teach English as a Second Language, and many of my students are working a grade or two below grade level.

They need strong instruction to help get them where they need to be in order to be successful.

My Project

Having the set of tablets will allow my students to learn academic English visually. As an English teacher, I try to anticipate what vocabulary or language structures will challenge students, but sometimes I do not anticipate ALL of what they need definitions or explanations of. By having the two tablets handy during the lesson, I can quickly look up a confusing word and get back to lesson with little lost learning time. Learning English by supplementing oral language with engaging visuals will help my students attend to the learning task at hand because they understand what they are doing!

English language learners often need scaffolds such as pictures to help them learn and understand content language.

By having these tablets, we can learn using pictures, videos, and other applications that will engage and support their learning of English. Students will learn deeper and faster with the correct supports.
