Ms. Eastmead from Memphis TN is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need these mini tape recorders to help them to listen to their voices when reading, having conversations, and for phonetic practice.

There really is not a typical day in my ESL 9-12 classes; most days bring surprises from my amazing and diverse learners. Many of my students have only just arrived in the United States when they start high school. Thomas Carlyle said: "Every man is my superior in that I may learn from him." True...
My students are amazing, zealous learners with unique ideas and learning styles that they bring to class every day.
When they enter, it is like the sun coming up in the morning, bringing with it new possibilities and challenges. Teaching at the high school level means that many of my students have only arrived in the United States when they begin the 9th grade. In fact, through the years, I have seen students begin school in the U.S. at the 12th grade level. They have very diverse backgrounds and cultures, which is one of the many reasons I enjoy teaching ESL so much. Each student has unique qualities to offer. My students are aged fourteen through eighteen and come from Asia, Central and South America, Cuba, Africa, and Europe. My school offers a supportive environment in which my students can learn and grow. My classroom is filled with positive energy, and my students and I are very protective of that. I have a wonderful group of young people, and I am very blessed.
My students often have difficulty, especially just beginning to acquire English at the high school level. There are many wonderful techniques and strategies to assist them in their pronunciation, usage, and fluency by getting audio feedback through the use of mini audio tape recorders. The strategies are endless and would be so beneficial for their reading and dialogue using these recorders.
Donations would help my students have access to many vital tools that would help them to become proficient and advanced speakers, readers, and writers.
We are a Title 1 school, and the funding available for student materials is very limited. If my students become more proficient in their quality of English language acquisition, their chances for success, post high school would be greatly enhanced. My students and I will be forever grateful for any assistance from generous donors.
