My students need more modern technology in the classroom that is encouraging for them to use. This board will enable them to share thoughts & ideas more easily and clearly
Each day we begin class using a small dry erase board for instruction. My students tell me daily "I wish we could have an interactive board for this class". My biggest challenge for this year is to enable my students to achieve a higher level of thinking thru collaborative use of new technology.
My Geometry classes always have 28- to 30 students and all function on different levels.
Our school is a Title I district and funding for technology is limited. We are currently using white boards that I constructed from white cardboard inserted into a clear sheet protector. While I do have an InterWrite board for projecting problems onto a white screen, students struggle with using it to show their work. Also, it creates a handicap for some students because we have to turn off the lights for students to see what is projected.
My project is to purchase an Interactive Board for my class room. This would help to inspire students to show their work to the class. I have researched and found that an Interactive Board would be a great asset to any classroom. Along with providing educators with state-of-the-art tools of technology, it also provides the student various ways of engagement. It has been my experience that students love to “show their work" when technology is available.
My Project
Students will use the board for single student and team interactivity and collaboration. This board would serve as a learning tool during lecture with fast & precise tools and lessons for each unique need. Students will become more actively engaged and experience more effective learning experiences thru its' utilization. In addition, this board will provide everything teachers need to create a more active, inspired, and engaged classroom. Students will learn their daily lessons while learning technology skills that would otherwise not be available to them.
Interactive whiteboards affect learning in many ways, such as raising the student's interest level which promotes enthusiasm and motivation, while supporting many learning styles.
It will allow software demonstration in front of the class without constraints of sitting at a computer. This allows for whole-class teaching, while allowing educators to streamline lesson plans. It enables active learning through writing, discussion, synthesis, and evaluation, rather than passively absorbing lecture
