My students need a learning easel and letters to help guide instruction during whole group lessons. In addition, it would be a great addition to our word study center.
Students learn at many different rates and levels. The challenge facing our classroom is the ability for my students to be able to physically manipulate the skills we are learning. i.e. Short and long vowel sounds, blending letter sounds to form meaningful words...
My students are eager individuals that strive to learn our weekly skills.
They are enthusiastic about learning especially when they are able to manipulate their learning environment. I have many learners that strive off of the ability of being able to complete tasks where they are actively involved in their learning.
My Project
Being able to differentiate my instruction is a huge goal. Through this project, my students will be able to manipulate our weekly sounds, blends, and high frequency words at various levels. My students that require the hands on experience will be able to manipulate the letters through making words with the magnets. My higher level students will be able to write on the easel and work on improving the writing skills. All students will benefit from these items in more than one way. I hope to be able to attend to all of my students need through this project.
As a first year teacher, I have come across many obstacles.
My biggest obstacle has been trying to meet the needs of all of my students. This project focuses on helping students at all levels. I wish to be able to help my students go above and beyond their actual abilities through this project.
