Learning During C-19 with Legos

Help me give my students a fun place to sit while using Legos for multiplication, fractions, and problem solving. Also, they need a lanyard to hold their face masks so they are not losing them during the school day.

My Students

I teach two classes of 21 8- and 9-year old students who are sweet, intelligent, creative, and hardworking. You will find that each class has 21 unique and different personalities. Each class also has students with several different learning styles. As different as they are, they are still children.

In March, the unthinkable happened to our country.

Life as we knew it came to a sudden halt. Students had so many new adjustments that they had to make. This included students suddenly having to adapt to learning online. Months later, children are still being effected by Covid. In three weeks, our county is moving into face-to-face instruction, and I need for my classroom to be their safe and happy place.

I would love for my students to walk into my classroom and get excited about learning! I would love to have a classroom with a variety of interactive teaching materials. This would create a welcoming, kid-friendly environment and help get my students excited about learning.

My Project

I would love for my students to walk into my classroom this year for the first time and see a container of Legos on their desks.

I believe they would flip out.

During our Zoom lessons, several of my students have talked about building different structures with Legos. To find out that they will be using them now for math, they will be so excited. I would also love for them to have a fun place to sit besides their hard plastic chair. Last but not least, I think the lanyards are necessary for my students to be able to keep up with their masks. Thank you so much for reading this and helping our students love learning.
