Help me give my students the Lakeshore Pose & Play Families set, Wooden Dollhouse Furniture, Pet Set, and a wooden African American Family and Caucasian Family,
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are in a Title I preschool, and 100% of our students receive free lunch. Many of the students have a parent in the military. The children must meet at-risk criteria to attend this program. The criteria include family income, identified disabilities, parent employment, and English proficiency.
I provide a creative classroom environment with materials in the learning centers that are empowering students through art.
I also provide science, technology, engineering, and math activities. I believe this will prepare all my students to be successful in kindergarten and beyond.
Fostering multicultural awareness and diversity appreciation is of the utmost importance in my classroom. A two-story wooden dollhouse with furniture will enhance my students’ understanding about characteristics of diverse families in a home setting. These materials will stimulate discussions about family similarities and differences.
These materials will enable my students to develop independent exploration through purposeful play, express themselves in a fun and nurturing environment, and expand their sensitivity toward different ethnic groups to enhance our classroom cultural diversity.
The African American, Chinese, Caucasian, and Hispanic families will help them understand that people are unique and different, yet similar in so many ways, such as having pets, eating together, working, etc. These materials will support my students' self-awareness and appreciation of the characteristics of others.
