This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember when your teacher was teaching you something new and you had no idea what they were talking about? My students need read-alouds to help them better understand craft lessons in writing.

My students are all Second Language Learners, who have come from countries all over the world.

Many of them come from low-income households, where their parents do not speak English either. They attend a public school in an urban district in New Jersey. Many were recently impacted by Hurricane Sandy but their resilience is amazing and inspiring.

My Project

I am requesting all different types of read-alouds to teach craft lessons to my students. Using these read-alouds will help students take on and internalize different types of reading and writing skills because they will be able to see published authors use the same skills in their stories.

This project is so important because these students need and deserve all the help they can get during their difficult transition in starting to get back to normal after the devastation of Hurricane Sandy.

Giving them resources to aid in this transition will help them feel more comfortable in their learning and achieve all that they can.
