Some of my students lack world experiences due to financial issues at home. A lot of the time talking and interacting with their peers gives them insight into things they have never even dreamed of. It is within this idea of learning from one another that my project really comes to life.
My students are unique individuals who thrive off of the love and support that they get in school.
Some students come from very hard home lives and issues they leave behind. Because of this, school is often times their safe haven. They have the opportunity to come and know that every single person in the building loves them and wants the best for them. I am blessed to work in a building that is so loving and positive to all of our students.
My students also come with very different life experiences. Some have more background knowledge than others. It is through interaction and collaborative learning that students get to share their personal experiences and discuss what made them who they are today and what is going to shape them for the future.
My Project
My classroom runs and depends on the interaction of my students. They work together constantly in order to come up with new and innovative ideas. I strongly believe that students learn more from one another in a single, focused conversation than from days upon days of lecture lessons.
Because my classroom is so collaboration-based, students need easy access to talk to one another. We need a clover shaped table for collaborative learning. This table will help students to collaborate in a more direct way with one another as they can easily discuss our English topics to arrive at a deeper understanding.
Donations to this project will give my students an opportunity to have a small group area where they have easy access to their group mates.
This will change students' lives as they begin to see the many different things they can learn from one another. This project is the beginning of helping them to see the value in their peers.
