Remember when you were first introduced to the computer and the wonderful world of information at your fingertips? My students long to have that ability. Currently, our classroom has to share computers. This will allow every student to have access to their own device!
My students are special needs students that are bright, inquisitive and ready to learn much needed technology skills.
The world and classroom is moving into the digital age and my students need to learn the skills necessary to keep up with their peers. The students in the classroom have unique needs that require alternative methods of instruction to help them learn the academic skills they need. They need to learn how to navigate and find information on the computer and use that to take charge of their learning. Our school is a Title I school with the majority of our students on free and reduced lunches. They don't always have the access needed in their homes to access information they way everyone else can.
My Project
The Chromebooks will allow the students to learn necessary computer skills. They will also be able to research topics to complete informative writing pieces. Our students will also have online access to their math curriculum and alternative reading programs. They will be able to grow confident in their skills academically and as individuals.
The 3 Chrome OS mananagement licenses will allow the students to navigate online while being safe under the school firewall and protection of district management. These licenses will cover this Chromebook as well as the other two donated to the classroom from a previous donation.
The students will be able to feel confidence in themselves and their ability to work collaboratively to solve problems.
They will know how to locate information and knowledge that will allow them to conquer any task or problem before them.
