As the state announced school closures for the rest of 2019-2020, I knew my ELLs would be the ones to get affected the most by this pandemic. The families at my school are in the high-risk communities with high numbers.
At CCDSI we have a large population of English Language Learners. There is a significant achievement gap and COVID-19 has only made it wider as many families struggle with navigating the distant learning platform and online learning.
Unfortunately, all of the ELL materials we have are at school and we are not allowed in the building.
I want to provide students with meaningful interventions that connect to content area Reading instruction. These English Language Learner Games and Centers will provide a fun way of making those connections and allow me to target listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
