This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 25 second grade students in a public, urban, PreK-8th grade school. Most of my students are from a low income, high poverty area; many coming from nontraditional families. Sometimes, not having adequate supplies holds them back from reaching their full potential.
My students deserve the opportunity to be successful.
They are very hardworking and thoughtful. My students love working with hands-on activities and in centers. They love working together by teaching and helping each other when someone is struggling.
My Project
We use learning centers every day in second grade. My students love participating in learning centers for reading, phonics, writing, and technology. They do not have adequate materials to complete engaging math centers on a daily basis. They need some new hands-on learning games like Roll & Solve Place Value, The Allowance Game, and How Tall Am I? Measurement Game to keep them interested and excited about learning every day.
Students learn best while they are having fun!
Not only will my students be able to practice and master reading and math skills with these games, but they will also be able to practice social skills and working together in a group while they are learning.
