My students are each unique and special. Each student in my classroom has a disability but they are much more than their labels. These students love learning and come in each morning excited to enter the classroom and see what's in store for the day. Not a day goes by without several smiles and giggles!
My class motto is "If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn."My students learn best when all of their sensory needs are being met.
They benefit from non-traditional seating, work spaces and an individualized curriculum. When given the tools they need to learn, they are very successful.
My Project
My students learn best when their sensory needs are being met. Sometimes this means sitting in a comfortable chair, lying on the floor, or rocking in a rocking chair. My students will use the variety of seating options to learn in a comfortable way.
Most of my students are just beginning to learn to read and love being read to; I want to continue to encourage them and increase their love for books by increasing their selection as well as providing a cozy area they are drawn to!
Many of the books I currently have are too difficult for my students to read independently so I am asking for Easy Readers to encourage literacy in the classroom.
