Learning Can't Be Beat, When You Wiggle In Your Seat!
My students need flexible seating options to keep them actively engaged in their learning! I am requesting stability ball chairs, wiggle stools, and wobble cushions.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The classroom should be somewhere where everyone feels cared for, motivated, and eager to learn! It is important in my job as an educator, that I help the students do just that!
I want to create a classroom with flexible seating to increase motivation and engagement for all my students!
My students come from a variety of different backgrounds. Most of them have individualized needs and need accommodations to help them be successful throughout the day! Within my classroom, I have students with IEPs, 504 Plans, students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, and gifted students. All of my students are unique and everyone finds their own path to be successful! Many of my students this year have trouble focusing or paying attention. By giving students the chance to move around the classroom, I believe that each and every student can be successful!
My Project
When my project is fully funded, my students will have access to several flexible seating options that allow them to move while they learn. Not every student learns best while sitting in a metal chair for hours at a time. In fact, research shows this is not how students learn. Students learn best when they are comfortable, can purposefully use their energy, and work in a position that meets their physical needs.
It's very important in the classroom for students to have a choice.
Studies have shown that choices improve student engagement and motivation! I believe that all students should have a choice of where they sit in the classroom, or where they learn best! By choosing a seat such as a wiggle seat or a stability ball, students can focus more on their education.
Not only will flexible seating help improve student achievement through enhanced learning, but my students' physical health will also be improved.
