My Students

I am lucky to teach fourth-grade dual language immersion students. I have the opportunity to work with about 56 wonderful students every day. My students are with me for English and math for half the day and then switch to the Portuguese class. Students switch mid-day, and I get to teach the other half of my students who spent their morning in Portuguese.

My students are enthusiastic and committed to learning the Portuguese language, as well as keeping up with the rigor and learning in the English and math portion of their day, even in the COVID-19 pandemic.

It's been an interesting year, with scattered online learning days due to the pandemic. There have been many absences in my class due to Covid and its variants, with more students than ever in my career being personally affected by the virus level and missing many school days due to the virus. My students are very diverse in academic background, home life, and personal life experiences and deserve the best even in these unprecedented times in education.

My Project

My dual-language emersion students must be able to keep up with a daily learning schedule, the rigor of state standards, and the ever-changing skills required to access the digital learning platforms. My students are motivated, even in the midst of experiencing learning obstacles due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but there is always more needed to help them access academic learning.

Highly motivated or struggling students will be more engaged in learning whether in the classroom, virtually, or a combination of both teaching methods; having easier access to learning academic curriculum standards and live teacher presentations.

My project combines student and teacher materials to teach and engage my students virtually or in person, or help students one-on-one from anywhere. With these resources, teaching can be done in a manner that students can have equal access to academic learning whether they are at home or in the classroom. This is how student learning will grow and zoom to higher levels no matter the room teacher and students are in!
