My class is diverse in many ways. We have a broad age range from very new 5 year olds to more mature 6 will be 7 year olds. We have students who have attended day care, preschool and stay at home experiences. We have readers and students who do not yet know letters or sounds. One thing they all have in common is their enthusiasm! They are all excited to be at school and are ready to learn and I am ready to teach them!
My Project
Learning in kindergarten happens best when it is fun and hands on! Sight word games and activities and beautifully colored sight word books will make what can be boring into fun and exciting. Number line math and 10 frames also can be much more hands on with fun manipulatives.
I had fun learning materials at home in my garage that I would rotate in and out of the limited shelf space in my classroom.
During Hurricane Florence, my home suffered severe damage. We lost the roof and had huge black mold growing. It broke my heart to throw out so many materials that I had collected throughout my 30 year teaching career. It would be wonderful to bring new materials into to my classroom to make learning more fun and hands on.
