This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are creative, thoughtful, energetic, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day with positive attitudes and are ready to learn, no matter what their home lives entails.
My students have a love for learning; they are motivated to be the best they can be in order to succeed in the future.
My students take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my why. These students teach me everyday, just as I teach them.
My Project
I teach First grade, and younger kids love being active and manipulating resources to help them learn. I think it is very important that kids are able to have a choice when learning. Some learn by listening, others visual, and the others learn by doing. I am a first year teacher, I do not have these resources to help my kids grow and learn. I believe that having the addition, subtraction, and time flash cards will better help my students have a better understanding in how to solve it because they will be the ones doing it, and making mistakes, then trying again. Also, having the letter cubes to make words will be very beneficial in helping my students begin to read and sound out words.
Having these resources where my kids can manipulate and make mistakes will help make them great learners.
I believe being able to try, and mess up, and try again will teach them more than just the standard we are trying to teach. It is very important that younger kids have ample opportunities to learn by doing. The donations to this project will help improve my students' understanding of reading and math.
