My students need the Osmo Genius Kit, Osmo Coding Game, Osmo Monster Game, Gravity Maze Game, and Roller Coaster Game to make learning more hands-on and authentic.
I will be a first-year teacher this upcoming school year and I am so excited to spend it in 4th grade! I am looking forward to meeting my students, who come from a close-knit, rural community in Kansas City.
The school district is the heart of the community and it is shaped by strong home-school relationships.
My school is one-to-one technology, and with that said, I would like to integrate more technology into the learning process this year. I believe that incorporating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) activities in the classroom will allow for my students to learn in a meaningful and engaging way.
My Project
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) activities are essential to the learning process as they provide students with opportunities to participate in critical thinking and creativity.
STEM activities encourage participation in more hands-on, purposeful work that is applicable to the real-world.
Osmo is a hands-on tool that connects the real and virtual worlds. The genius kit comes with manipulatives to create drawings, numeric and pictorial patterns, and words that support learning on technology. The Osmo coding game encourages students to participate in coding at a developmentally appropriate level by creating various sequences. The Osmo monster game encourages creativity and critical thinking as students depict drawings that come to life on the screen in order to problem-solve a given task.
The two Think Fun games, Roller Coaster and Gravity Maze, allow students to practice critical thinking skills to create a successful path. Through trial-and-error, students are able to work through the engineering process in an authentic way.
