Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school saying is, "Better today than yesterday! Better tomorrow than today!" I want to make their tomorrow better!
My class consists of a diverse group of learners.
My class has 26 second grade students of varying abilities. The socio-economic background of our students is reflected by our 97% free and reduced-price lunch rate.
I teach in an urban inner city school rich with diversity. I teach at a NAESP school. Most of my students need additional learning material to meet grade level expectations. Please help me to make tomorrow better for them!
My Project
My students are very energetic and curious! They really enjoy learning about animals and insects.
By learning about creatures in the Universe students will start to have compassion for living things and learn how to live with them in nature.
My students need the Hands On Specimen Center, Where Do I Live Animal Match, Animal Book Library, Insect Book Library, and The Read About Science Book Library to learn about all aspects of creatures from birth to studying their fossils after death.
Using the Science Specimen Sorting Center will allow my students an up close look at creatures they may not see outside in their natural surroundings in the inner city where they live. Students will learn about how each animal and insect has a role in nature therefore they will develop an understanding of animals and nature all around them!
I'm hoping to instill a level of compassion for every living thing in the world around them by having them study these animals and insects up close in the classroom with these hands on materials in this project.
