My students attend a sensory impaired Pre-K for visually and hearing impaired students. The students require a different approach to teaching due to their sensory impairment.
My goal as a Pre-K teacher is to encourage my students to increase their language and communication to the best of their ability.
My students may use their voice, sign language or picture symbols to communicate; some are learning to read braille or are using a long cane, but they all have ONE thing in common: they are here to learn!
Donations given to my classroom will impact my students in a variety of educational, play-therapy, and communicative ways!
My Project
My classroom is made of students who have a variety of sensory impairements. This means teaching has to be hands on and FUN!
These materials will allow my sensory impaired students a fun new way to learn basics that many children grasp quickly!
The light box and accessory kit will be used with ALL of my students to work on learning colors, shapes, tracing, and many other lessons in a new creative way. The light box will also give my visually impaired students a different avenue for learning. Many of my visually impaired students need a bright background to make the image stand out due to their vision loss.
The Braille alphabet and number tiles will be used to start introducing my students with their reading materials. The individual tiles will be used when we are learning the letters and numbers of the week.
These fun tools will give my sensory impaired students a wonderful new way to learn the basics that every students is introduced to in Pre-K!
