Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach about 43 students this year who are all so excited to learn! They are full of questions and love exploring new things and new ideas, they enjoy and are starting to really understand what research is and what it requires. Math and science are things that I try to keep exciting, but our school is limited when it comes to technology and most of these kids come from homes with no computers, WiFi, smart phones, etc. Most of these kids only get to experience the use of technology once a week, so having technology readily available in my classroom would be amazing.

My Project
Technology is not something that’s easy to find at my school, but it's so present every day around us. Each year I have about 1-2 working computers in my classroom, so my students are limited when it comes to resources. Most of them don't even have the privilege of owning their own computers, tablets, or smartphones. We depend on textbooks and worksheets on most days, but I want them to experience learning in the 21st century. I am asking for four chromebooks and four Kindle Fire tablets to expand the learning opportunities for the kids in my class. They will be able to use these resources for remediation and enrichment. They will be able to read books and search the internet for additional resources as well as access online programs provided our district.
Please help me take learning outside of our classroom walls, help my students experience more than textbooks and worksheets.
With technology, we would be able to do more project based learning activities, research projects, and they would have the ability to take learning into their own hands.
