I am a NYC teacher working in a Title I school located in Queens, where every student receives free breakfast and lunch. I am excited to teach 32 creative, young children but want to create a conducive and cheerful learning environment. My upcoming class of first graders come from diverse backgrounds with mixed abilities and varied interest. I am eager to watch them enter our new classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore. My goal is to provide a great education for my wonderful students and help develop each child's unique talent and celebrate their individuality.
My Project
I have 32 students who would greatly benefit from having more books to add to our classroom library. Reading books at their level is crucial so they are able to decode the words and enjoy the stories they are reading. These sets of leveled books will help increase their reading fluency and comprehension. These leveled readers will not help only one child but all of my students in my classroom. Fostering a love of books is something I strive for as a teacher and I want my students to really love the selections they read.
The books from this project will go directly into our expanding our classroom library.
Many of the students read on the same level and the selection and quantity of books is very limited. Adding these books will give us a wider variety of books, and ensure all of the students will be able to have books on their level. Please help us build our current classroom library and help my kids succeed.
