Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As teachers, how can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials in school and at home to succeed? I accepted my new role at this school and I have reviewed the school-wide data and areas of indication that our students in kindergarten need help and more resources to help them succeed. There are students in my classroom with learning and emotional disabilities. Many come from single parents doing the best to raise them and help provide the best education possible for them.
I am looking for new manipulatives to bring my class centers to life.
Students learn in meaningful ways and having current material helps students progress in the way they learn best.
My students all receive a free breakfast and free lunch due to the economy and location of the school. I am looking to make their learning fun and enjoyable and give them opportunities they would normally not have.
My Project
These learning centers will provide a solid foundation for the classroom to be more operational. The current centers are extremely dated and their is no funding for the classrooms to be updated unless the teacher provides it with their own funding. Although I have been piecing my classroom together slowly, I have a long way to go and any help would be appreciated.
My students deserve a good quality education and I am willing to take the necessary steps in order to making this happen.
The children love learning through manipulative and it shows the students their are many ways to learn but most importantly hands on.
