My students need seat sacks to be placed on the backs of their chairs to facilitate independent seat work. These seat sacks would be used to foster organizational skills.
I teach with a wonderful co-teacher in an Inclusion classroom. We have a diverse classroom filled with eager and bright students. We are so proud of all the progress our students have made thus far in the school year. My co-teacher and I are truly a team in our classroom and we strive for the best.
In our classroom we have 19 students who are amazing young learners in first grade.
My co-teacher and I are so incredibly proud of them and our heart warms every morning when we greet them at the beginning of our school day. We have a diverse group of learners in our room, some of whom have specific learning needs. We teach in a differentiated manner so as to meet the needs of every learner. We teach using multi-sensory strategies in all subject areas. We approach every lesson with patience and intention. We use direct instruction to ensure that all students feel confident in what they are learning as they are being immersed in a lesson. We are so proud of our students and we look forward to the continued success they will make throughout the school year.
My Project
We use a constructivist approach in teaching in our classroom. We feel that hands-on student centered activities are at the core of learning new material. We know that our students leave our classroom every day filled with new experiences that are laying the foundation for future lessons as they become more knowledgable and more experienced as they grow older. As a result we use curriculum models that foster this kind of student learning. We are fortunate to use Singapore Math: Primary Mathematics curriculum in our school building. As a result we have wonderful math kits that are filled with math manipulatives that engage the mind and facilitate higher-order thinking skills. We would love to have a class set of seat sacks in our classroom so that students could independently use these math kits at any time during the school day. We feel that we will be fostering life skills such as organization, independence, and confidence by having students lead their own math learning.
Our hope is that our students will become stronger mathematical thinkers because they will have their math kits at their fingertips on a daily basis.
We also hope that our students will become more autonomous in their learning. We know that having materials right at students' fingertips will create motivated learners who are self-directed in the classroom - and this will in turn improve their confidence level and make them stronger learners and thinkers in this 21st century world.
