I encounter over 75 students daily from an impoverished area where one hundred percent receive free lunch. Ninety percent of our students live in single-parent homes. My school services over 450 deserving children on a daily basis. Our school is a safe haven where our focus is to educate the whole child. These children are very special to me. They come to school with a desire to learn, but should be able to learn in a vibrant learning environment.
As an educator, it is my responsibility to provide a space that enhances student learning and promote a space to ensure student success.
With a high level of boredom in an educational setting, it is my job as an educator to provide a space that is inviting. The nautical theme items will also be used to spark conversation about aquatic life in different areas of the state of Mississippi.
All materials in this project will be used to make the classroom space refreshing and functional.
The clock will be used to assist with teaching time, curtains will be used to block distractions outside of the classroom, light covers will be used to calm down the space for students with learning disabilities. The bookshelf will be used to store science related books in the reading corner.
