My scholars are some of the best students ever. I honestly never thought I could teach, let alone teach at a K-5 campus. Once I met my first group of scholars, I knew that being at this campus was the place for me.
My school and I believe in teaching students rather than just teaching lessons.
This idea comes directly from one of the foundation pieces of our campus culture: “Believing and Showing that Everyone Is Someone!”
I usually welcome 300 unique individuals at our school door each day, and I strive daily to partner with them in creating lessons that cater to their abilities and learning styles. I draw them in by being creative and the enthusiasm and confidence of asking “Why?" has become a natural course of action in our lessons together. I feel that seeking the whys in our class will carry them through the rest of their lives.
Our school is being pushed to new heights as we embrace the challenge of remote learning during the COVID-19. As we transition to a new method of instruction, we are working to close the digital access gap that is hindering learning at this time. It has been very eye opening to see the amount of scholars who will not have access to technology as our county moves toward virtual education.
I want to ensure that my students are continuing to receive quality instruction through virtual learning.
Our goal is to fulfill a 1:1 Chromebook project to provide education equity and academic rigor while sheltering in place. Chromebooks will allow students to access academic programs regardless of location
By filling this need, my students can continue to access material that is personalized for their growth
