Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are excited to learn every day! I love teaching Kindergarten and my students bring so much joy to our (remote) classroom.
I teach in an urban public school and 85% of my students are eligible for free or reduced lunch.
We are a full inclusion school which means we have students with a wide range of disabilities fully included in all of our classrooms. My students bring so many strengths to the classroom - 67% of them speak a language other than English at home.
My Project
Right now all of our 40 kindergarteners are learning from home, but we anticipate our high needs students coming back to school soon. We want to have lots of fun, high quality activities for our kids at school and also the technology and digital resources we need to create meaningful learning experiences for the kids at home.
We have been trying to increase engagement of our students remotely and make sure that they get the small group support that they need.
Document cameras make such a big difference in being able to model things for our students and we want to make sure all of our team members have them so we can support all of our students. Converting all of our curriculum into digital activities is an incredible amount of work and I have spent hundreds of dollars of my own money on learning materials in the just the first few months of school. Lots of high quality digital resources are available for purchase at Teachers Pay Teachers and a gift card would help me give my students lots of activities to make learning fun!
