My students are creative individuals who are interested in impacting their world for the better. They are exceptional human beings who are concerned with their surroundings. For many of my students this is the first time they have had an art class since elementary school. They display an immense desire to learn about art in all its forms.

N.High School is an environment that focuses on enriching the social emotional growth as well as the academic development of youth. Students are a part of the everyday curriculum planning and preparation for classes. I currently have two twelfth grade teacher assistance that work to help create unit plans and display work. This allows students to have a voice in their education.
My Project
Can you imagine an art room without paper? Our class currently has a dwindling stack of drawing paper. Paper is an essential material in any classroom, especially art! We are just about out of paper and color pencils! My students have requested to experiment with new materials such an oil pastels and chalk pastels. These materials will help to increase their knowledge of various elements of art and principles of design. My students are looking to expand on their knowledge of drawing materials and experiment with a variety of materials.

I want to create a learning environment for my students that makes them feel like they are the artists and the art room is their studio. In an art studio, artist have access to a variety of materials. They have the option of picking and choosing what to work with and how to create.
