My students need a new iPad to be able to learn through technology. Our school does not have WiFi capability, we need an iPad with cellular service to connect to the web.
Do you remember how much fun field trips were? The problem with the current economic crunch is the lack of funds for things like field trips. The solution is to take the students on a virtual field trip. Many museums including the Smithsonian and Rock & Roll Hall of fame offer virtual field trips.
Our school is in one of the highest foreclosure areas in California.
My core group of students is a diverse mixture of 32 middle school students from all abilities and backgrounds. However, I also teach the photography elective for middle school. All of my students are an energetic bunch of kids! Some of these kids are very eager to learn, but as with most students many need the extra push or incentive to want to learn.
My Project
With the purchase of this new iPad, the students will be able to travel the world without ever having to leave the classroom. The will be able to see the marvelous things housed in the Smithsonian. They will be able learn about great music icons such as Elvis from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They will even be able to communicate with our State and Nations leaders via Skype.
We will also be able to take advantage of all of the wonderful apps that are out there. We will be able to download books to expand our classroom library, and we will be able to take tests using the Accelerated Reader app!

Or they may visit places that have only been in their dreams and could never afford to go to.
