Ms. Strickland from Mobile AL is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need five Samsung - Galaxy devices and two OtterBox cases for protection to bring the world of technology into our classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I want my classroom to exemplify all aspects of the up and coming ways of learning and model a more exhilarating way of teaching. By teaching my students to utilize technology in the classroom, I am allowing them the opportunity to be successful in their future. My students strive for technology!
One cannot just describe your students; it is something that you have to experience.
You have your daily hug student, your story of the day student, or maybe your joke of the day student, and quite possibly your student that thinks they do not need anything from you. Every student is different and it is amazing to be a part of ongoing relationships that grow and develop throughout a school year, ultimately, creating a bond that can never be broken. E.R. Dickson is an AMAZING school filled with motivated teachers and administration beyond magnitude.
The items I have requested, Samsung - Galaxy tablets and OtterBoxes, will not only be used for research, but also collaborating with peers, communication with me, the teacher, creating book reviews and summaries, and ultimately learning the fundamentals of technology. These devices will be a gateway to the technology world and a tool for students to use while learning. With the curriculum changing, our schools and classrooms need to change as well. I have begun to integrate our science and social studies curriculum into my reading lessons, now it is time for technology. My goal as a teacher, is to create a reading classroom that excites and motivates the students to learn. Hand held devices are tools that are needed to implement a more independent, whole brain learning environment.
All of the donations, and ultimately the devices, will make a difference in our children's lives, our future society.
With the help of you, my students will have access to a world of new information and will become more independent, successful members of our community.
