Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a unique blend of students that I service. I service students from kindergarten to fifth grade, all of which are below grade level in many of the academic areas. Many of the students I see have a dual learning challenge. I have students that are English language learners that also have a learning disability. Many of my students are at least two grade levels below their same age peers. The students want to learn but know that they have to work twice as hard as their peers. The community that our school serves is at poverty level and many opportunities are not available to my students at a home level. They are good kids who need the extra support to allow them to bridge the learning gap.
My Project
The students in my classroom learn in many different ways and sometimes when your body needs to move, sitting in a traditional chair makes it difficult for them to focus on the skills we are trying to learn. Now they can pick which type of seating like the Stability ball chair to allow them movement while they work.
Having the ability to choose a different type of seating will allow the students to make choices that benefit them as the learn.
They can focus on their learning while moving which enables them to become independent learners which is amazing. Without you and your generosity this would not be possible.”
