Students in my classroom learn by doing. Games and materials that can reinforce social studies concepts is the key. The more active and involved their learning is, the more they remember. We will make history come alive, creating a living museum of American Heroes of our past.
I am in a rapidly growing school district.
My 4th graders come from a variety of backgrounds and eager to learn. Many students are excited but struggle with reading or English as the primary language. My classroom is filled with diverse backgrounds, ethically and economically. With the diversity and growth, appropriate hands on learning materials are not always available.
My Project
These hands-on social studies based games, will provide colorful visuals and fun while reinforcing standards. The materials provide another mode for students to reinforce the concepts. Students will use the information to assist with larger projects, such as our living history museum.
Your donation to this project allow students to use the materials throughout the year as we learn many new historical concepts.
For the student where English is a second language, the visuals and games, provide a concrete reinforcement to the standards. Students who struggle with reading, the clues and visuals from the games provided a fun way to teach the material. And the other students can have a fun way to learn history!
