Welcome to my classroom. We are a small classroom with diverse needs living in a small Maine rural town. My students need supportive materials to engage their learning, materials which are hard to get from a small, rural, high poverty school district.
My first graders all receive free breakfast and lunch daily to ensure that their bellies are full for optimal learning to take place.
Despite their socioeconomic status, non-typical family lives, and the many challenges they face, I try to provide my students with many engaging and meaningful learning opportunities, so they each may learn. Everyday school materials for their use, like pencils, paper, color pencils, crayons, and markers are supplied by me because most of my students cannot afford to purchase these everyday supplies. I want them engaged in their learning, not worrying about how they are going to get these needed school supplies.
My Project
My young learners love listening to read alouds, attentively listening to the stories come alive in their minds as they listen. Stories being read aloud engage many young learners while they are learning to read. Remember the experiences of stories being read to you by your parents or teachers when you were only about five or six years old? It is a gratifying life experience that I will always remember!
Listening to stories being read aloud is an engaging learning experience that I wish to happen for my young readers!
Your donations will help my learners listen to stories being read aloud, as they learn to read. Your donation will provide a casette/CD Player with six headphones that will allow my learners to listen to stories being read aloud to them. They will be engaged in a learning experience with interactive read alouds. These materials will engage my learners with reading as they listen to stories being read aloud to them. Your generous donation will provide a listening centerin our classroom and engage learners with reading.
