As a self contained special education room serving students with instructional and behavioral needs, my students benefit from a structured setting that utilizes hands on manipulatives, lots of movement, and sensory integration. We are a new classroom and we are trying to build the resources needed to meet the needs of all the students in the classroom.
My students come into school everyday, looking to learn, grow and looking to the staff to provide a safe and predictable learning environment.
We learn, we teach, we investigate, we predict, we laugh, we cry, we grow, we struggle, we persevere, we support one another, we meet our goals and celebrate our successes.
It's not always easy, but really, the things worth it in life are not going to be. It's not about perfection, it's all about growth. And we are always growing!
My Project
I just opened my K-1 self-contained special education classroom in January. My students are working a couple grade levels behind their peers and would benefit from more hands on learning tools and games for them to practice and generalize their skills. My students also benefit from sensory integration throughout the day, and would greatly benefit from a variety of sensory tools to help them grow in their self-regulation skills.
Students learn better when they are engaged in their work.
