I have the privilege of teaching reading to fifth graders. My students are so diverse, with children from all walks of life. They are hard-working, dedicated children who want to achieve the goals they have set for themselves. I want to be able to help them to do that!
Their love for reading is already there, but the resources needed to maintain that passion are not.
While I provide as many books as I can, I can’t keep the shelves filled. They fly through books so fast and are ready to start new ones all the time. They are passionate. They are smart. They are amazing!
Working in a low income neighborhood means many of my students don’t have the tools they need to be successful, and I want nothing more than to give them what they need. With your help, I will be able to give them what they need.
My Project
I want my students to look back and remember their fifth grade year! One of the toughest things to do is create engaging and memorable lessons for my students.
With state testing in the near future, we have been doing a lot of practice with test questions and writing.
This can get very boring very quickly. I would love to be able to have a glow party where we can still practice for state testing while having fun. I know my students will be completely engaged and motivated.
They have worked incredibly hard this year and I want to be able to reward them with a fun learning experience. With your help we can make that happen!
