Help me give my students a piece of the digital world with Adobe to create videos and pictures and Flocabulary for engagement in content, motivation, inspiration, and creativity.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I currently teach Math and Science to two classes of students. I teach in an impoverished district. Students are attempting to focus on learning but have such deficits as homelessness, hunger, and anger. My students are excited to learn and eager to achieve. Despite some of their current circumstances, they come to school to be inspired and to inspire. Our students are taught using whole group instruction, small group instruction, one-on-one instruction, and independent instruction. Some of the components to individualized instruction are the district purchased computer programs and Chromebooks. The students work really hard to maintain independence and achievement when working with the online program.
My goal in setting up a project like this would be to allow higher engagement in student-centered activities and school community involvement.
With a sense of involvement. students will take better ownership of their school, their learning, and have a sense of connection with students and staff at the school.
My students love animations and content put to music. This is exactly the format of "Flocabulary". Students learn through music and animated clips. Vocabulary is reinforced and the website offers questions and an assessment option. The format is also less intimidating than regular paper and pencil assessments.
Adobe paired with Flocabulary are great resources and will also spark curiosity with some by making them want to explore the world of art, academic content, and the school community in pictures or on the screen.
The classroom learning environment and the school community will never be the same! Student learning and community involvement with these two resources may just spark a hobby that leads to a trade skill, that will lead to income!
