Help me give my students the tools they need to assist in resource and small group reading and math. This includes weighted lap blankets, dry erase sleeves, and other items.
My students are ready to move mountains! After the craziness of the last year, my students are ready to hit the ground running! I work primarily with students in Special Education or students who are struggling in core academic areas through small group instruction. Some of the students I work with receive pull-out Resource instruction throughout the day in reading, writing, math, motor, and social skills. Other students, I work with through small group rotations in the general education classroom.
After on and off online learning and hybrid instruction, my students are excited to be in school and have their hands-on materials.
Most of my students benefit greatly from using manipulatives in both reading and math and require some type of sensory, behavioral, or social intervention.
My Project
These tools will assist my students that require manipulatives and visual aids to learn new concepts. These tools will help make the content I am teaching more engaging for all learners, but, especially the learners with disabilities that I work with. The goal is to make my small groups inclusive where all students have the option of using these tools so the students that require them do not feel singled out. It is my hope that these items turn activities that are dreaded by some of my students (like reading) into fun and engaging activities that they look forward to.
I have several reading tools listed- my kids love smelly markers, but they run out of ink quickly or they draw on themselves with them.
Smelly crayons will last longer and prevent my students from coloring on themselves!
Highlighters are so useful as my students start to learn how to find information in a text passage. The TPT giftcards will allow me to buy curriculum and other resources for both reading and my SEL class. The dry erase packets allow me to minimize printing and make custom worksheets and gameboards for the students to use dry erase markers with. I also have a few sensory tools to help my students with autism or sensory processing disorders to regulate during lesson time.
